"THE GOSPEL OF GOD..........CONCERNING HIS SON JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD"


Romans is all about the GOSPEL, the good news; we have seen that it's origin is God, that it was progressively revealed in the scriptures, we now come to the heart of it, what it is all about, rather WHO it is all about.

God's gospel is not a doctrine, it is not a religion, it is not a moral code for living, it is all about a person, a special person, a very special person, the most important person in the universe, GOD'S SON, the darling of heaven, beloved of the Father, adored by the hosts of heaven. He did not merely bring God's message, HE IS GOD'S MESSAGE!

Let us all be clear about this, there is no good news for the human race apart from God's Son; there is no salvation, there is no justification, there is no forgiveness of sins, there is no entry into heaven for any of us apart from God's Son. There is no Christianity without Christ; you can have Buddhism without Buddha, you can have Marxism without Karl Marx, you cannot have salvation without the Saviour.

John 14 v 6 "I AM the way, and the truth, and the life; no one cometh unto the Father BUT BY ME"
Acts 4 v 12 "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is NONE OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN given among men, whereby we must be saved"


The good news is, in all that He is, in all that He came to do, in all that He is doing, and in all that He will yet do. We must take all of it, not pick the bits that appeal to us; here in Romans 1 v 2-4 we have His eternal being, His incarnation, His perfect life, His death, His resurrection, and His future Kingdom glory, when He will be truly be SOVEREIGN LORD (Kurios) over all.

Christ's deity, humanity, perfection of life, vicarious death, resurrection, coming universal glory, are all fundamental to the GOSPEL; all should take note; particularly all preachers take note. Paul warned the Galatians not to tamper with this gospel  "Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached, let him be accursed" Galatians 1 v 8.

Philip the evangelist preached JESUS, Peter and Paul preached JESUS AND THE RESSURECTION , Paul spent the last two years of his life in Rome-"preaching the kingdom of God and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ", and countless others have done the same.

We will look at each of these aspects of this glorious one who is the saviour of the world, as suggested in these verses, and thus understand the bedrock foundation of God's REMEDY for man's RUIN, and later look at  man's RESPONSIBILITY to receive it by faith.



Psalm 2 v 12 "KISS THE SON, lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in HIM"
